My first year in Canada

I got my study visa to come in Canada in 2008. I imagined a peaceful place and an excellent framework of life and studies that help me to get closer more easily to my future. However since my arrival in Canadian land I was facing to several challenges at my first year. Coming from a country where the heat is high, I have been very surprised to live for my first time the winter, because the temperature was below zero. This was my first difficulty to overcome. It took few weeks to get courage to face reality. To this, the loneliness should be added. I had no family or friends who could comfort me. That was the mean reason why I was thinking seriously to give up and return home to my country.
However, the University had an organization that really facilitated my integration. There was always someone helping me, answering to my questions and even go with when necessary. The difference of the education system with what I used in my country made me doubt so much initially. I wondered that if the studies in Canada were made for me. A further brake on my integration was my unilingualism especially outside the University.
In another word, my first year was not at all the fun. Anecdotes? I can name tons but when you know what you want and is not hiding yourself behind excuses, you still eventually escape and this was my case. In fact I passed all my courses at the end of the year. Then I felt integrated after this year because I made friends and I got a summer job during my holidays. Since that time, things are going pretty well for me.
